In January of 1995, Blessed Hope Baptist Church was founded by Pastor Wayne Smith and a handful of individuals. It’s original location was on Charlotte Street in York, but in just a few years, the church was able to purchase the property where it currently meets. For nearly 35 years, Pastor Smith served faithfully at Blessed Hope until his health forced him to resign as pastor in 2007.
Over time, Wayne Smith's health improved dramatically, allowing him to start Bethel Baptist Church of Filbert in August of 2008. Wayne Smith went home to be with the Lord in February of 2015, and the church called his assistant William E. Lingerfelt as pastor.
In August of 2016, Hope Tract Ministry moved to Bethel Baptist Church of Filbert.
